Why We Built This Site
People still search for “New Haven County” even though Connecticut abolished county government. That disconnect can lead them toward a nonexistent county office. New Haven County Criminal History identifies the actual custodian for each type of material. New Haven Police creates city reports, Connecticut Superior Court maintains dockets and dispositions, and the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection holds repository histories. Sentenced custody information comes from the Department of Correction, while statutory offender listings belong to the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry. Each record topic is routed to its proper official source.
What You Will Find Here
- Record relief: the effect that Connecticut erasure, Clean Slate, and Absolute Pardons can have on public records
- Local contacts: the request channels used by New Haven Police, Superior Court, and relevant state offices
- Official self-review: fingerprint-supported and name-based options available through SPBI and Connecticut DESPP
- Case guidance: use of the Court Case Lookup and the difference between a court docket and police report
What We Cannot Do
New Haven County Criminal History is a private reference website, not a service operated by New Haven or the State of Connecticut. It can explain official access routes, but it cannot perform the following tasks:
- Guarantee that each published address, fee, or telephone number remains current
- Advise anyone on how a particular case or charge affects them
- Provide a certified court document, rap sheet, or other criminal record
- Submit a record request, pardon application, erasure request, or other filing for a user
- Retrieve a person's criminal record or conduct an official background check
A current official record can be issued or certified only by its custodian, such as NHPD, Superior Court, or Connecticut DESPP.
Search Partners
Outside providers operate the search boxes found on certain pages. Those companies determine their own pricing, services, results, and treatment of submitted data. When a user reaches a paid signup through one of the tools, a referral payment may help support this free reference resource. New Haven County Criminal History neither sets the provider's charges nor controls its search results.
